I have been in the Design, Advertising, Print and Marketing
field for over 17 years and seen massive changes in the industry. I was
one of the first people to start designing using an Apple Mac in
Edinburgh, having spent my Junior days stuck in a dark room or mastering
my drawing skills with a rotary pen.
I think the 'key' to success in design is to listen to your clients and research! Too many designers fail because they go on an award winning design trip forgetting the fact that clients need results from your work.
Good designs should be profitable, improve the brand experience and in turn get you more clients.

As a Creative Director I have the opportunity to diversify my interests, I have enjoyed fishing all over the world and I'm the 2008 World Champion fisherman for White Sturgeon in British Columbia. I also have had the privilege of recently successfully dabbling in Blue Marlin fishing of the coast of Africa, I enjoyed myself so much that I'm heading out again this year to hopefully land another 250 kilo fish. I own a share in a small Brown Trout fishing loch near Fintry and rent a beat on the river Tweed. I love the great outdoors and go scuba diving, camping, walking, cycling in Scotland when I can.
